bay that surrounds it. Since its conception has always been in a state of change, development and reinvention, and continues to be viewed as a canvas for developers. The next 10 years will be the most development the island has ever seen. Treasure Island’s community is sparse, but definitely present. Walking around, I met quite a few people who considered themselves to be from there. San Francisco has big plans for the island’s future, going so far as to market it as “San Francisco’s newest neighborhood”. The 10-year “master plan” details an almost complete restructuring of the island, complete with a manufactured nature preserve, luxury condos, affordable housing and more.
